    Matthew 18:18-20 (NKJV)
    “ Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
    19 “ Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”
    What an awesome gift Jesus has given to all those who believe in Him! How often have you read these words? How often do you hear them from the pulpits? In today's world, this would be rare if at all. It is sad as the time in which we now live, is conspicuously devoid of the kind of power of God we most need.

    With violence a daily occurrence being reported on television news, rapes, murders, kidnapping, slavery, wars, rumors and threats of wars, threats of nuclear proliferation, leaders of nations and religious leaders spewing out of their mouths hatred and the encouragement of violence and the destruction of all who disagree with them. Our world of today is a powder keg of high explosives sitting too near the place where just a little spark would be enough to set it off. One comment against some of these religions sets the world on fire as men display no tolerance against their ideals, even from the ignorant and the innocent.

    Even in the Christian world, there is no lack of disagreements, anger, hatred, intolerance towards others, unfaithfulness, adulteries, idol worship, gossip, tale bearing, idle speaking, judgment, criticism, harsh words and the list continues to grow. At times, it seems there is no apparent difference between those who say they believe in God and those who disavow God. What a state of confusion and anarchy we live in today. What unrest! Everyday, with all the news of violence and threats of violence, our future appears to be less secure than at any other time in history!

    The world is crying out for a change. Victims crying out for justice! The afflicted crying out for release from their affliction. Greedy multi-national corporations spreading their doctrine of control and greed to a needy and seemingly helpless world causing untold levels of suffering and death in their wake. Religious ideologies bringing with them their distorted views and ideas of rule and control causing fear and terror wherever their doctrines of violence are spread. Even once free states and countries appearing as if they are falling apart from within and yet attempting to spread their own ideas of success to other poorer countries while bringing with them the same corruption that is tearing their own countries apart.

    Yes, we are living today in a very volatile world that is literally on the verge of its own destruction and on the verge of creating a new world order as a means to grapple with the vast unsolved problems that no single nation appears to have the answer for. It seems to me, the world is looking for a savior but has rejected that true Savior, the Creator of this world has already sent. Jesus warned two thousand years ago that this would happen. By rejecting Him who comes in the Name of the Father, they would accept he who will come in their own name. Yes, the world of today is primed and ready for the prophecies of the book of Revelations to come to pass where a world leader will arise offering peace and security but in the name of God's adversary, the devil.

    At this most critical time in all of history, the church of God, appears to be at its weakest point in history, a powerless church which denies the power of Jesus' resurrection. This church of today seems to no longer believe or walk in that power and authority Jesus gave to those who followed Him during and immediately after His time on earth. He promised a comforter, a teacher, a guide, that Spirit of Truth who is sent to lead and guide us into ALL truth. Jesus said this Spirit of Truth will not speak of His own but will say all those things that Jesus said as He will take what Jesus said and did and give it to us. This includes that power and authority Jesus gained by rising from the dead and sitting at the right hand of POWER!

    For many in the church share more of the characteristics of those nations that were transplanted in Israel ages ago when God drove out Israel into captivity of the Babylonians because of their persistent unfaithfulness. These nations that came to occupy that land promised to the children of Israel through Abraham, their father, were being attacked and killed by wild beasts because, according to their own words, they did not know the rituals of the God of this land. So they begged their king to send back one of those priests of this land to teach them the rituals of the God of this land. So, one of the priests that was driven out for their own unfaithfulness was returned and taught that which he did not possess to these transplanted nations.

    How does this compare with many of the church today? These nations only wanted to know enough about God to assure their immediate future but continued to live their lives as they had before. If they served their own false gods before, then they continued. If they served their own fleshly desires before, then they continued to serve themselves instead of God.

    For instead of God becoming the center of their world, He was pushed to the side and the only attention given to Him was on those high holy days. So they "feared the Lord" but continued to worship at the feet of their own gods. They continued to worship the gods of convenience, self exaltation, pleasure, lust of the flesh, pride of life, lust for money and power, ever learning and seeking knowledge but never coming to the true knowledge of God's kingdom and the power of His resurrection. Again, they cared not to retain God in all their thoughts but sought after all that the world and its many distractions offered them.

    Even for those who did worship God, many shifted their focus from pleasing God to pleasing mankind. They became respecters of persons instead of those who feared a Holy and Jealous God who shares His glory with no other. Their houses of worship became filled with the sounds of praise and worship but without the presence and power of God's Spirit. The evidence of a Christ filled life and Holy Spirit power with the signs of that power slowly disappeared along with the brokenness for a lost and dying world.

    Today, the focus has shifted to those things that will bring pleasure, enjoyment, happiness and apparent peace while all around them suffering, bondage, fleshly indulgence, sin and the destruction that comes with it, continue unabated. Today, instead of the coming together of a people broken for the lost in fasting and prayer, this church of today are filled with programs and activities that distract them away from those things that weighed heavily upon the Savior's heart.

    Many within their own borders with depression and oppression from the powers of darkness go unnoticed until tragedy strikes in their midst as these take their own lives and or the lives of others. The wounded and sick are not healed, the oppressed are still being held captive, the hungry, thirsty and naked are all but forgotten and neglected. Blind eyes are no longer being opened, the lame continue as before, the orphans and the widows are forgotten and the dead are no longer being raised up. These are considered by God's word as the basics of our faith and yet we see so little of them today.

    What has happened to the church we see in the book of Acts? Where is the power of God? Paul said he preached not with the wisdom of words but with the power of the resurrected Christ, with signs and wonders following. Where are these signs and wonders today? Today, the vast majority of the church have been sold a lie called dispensationalism. This teaches that the power of God was only for the first century church in order to establish it. This teaches also that when that which is perfect is come, then all these other things will pass away. To this, they point to the writing of the New Testament. Satan has sold the church a lie!

    What was revealed to the early church was part of God's master plan to free mankind from the bondages of sin and the powers of deception from the evil one. In order to free us and to keep us free, we needed supernatural power. Jesus told His disciples that it was NECESSARY He die so that the PROMISE could come. He was referring to Holy Spirit power! God knew that the ONLY way mankind would ever be free from Satan's deception and power was to give mankind what man had lost in the garden and this was God's own spiritual power as displayed in Jesus' life while He walked on this earth.

    Even though the disciples of Christ walked with Jesus for three and a half years, they still lacked that which was most needed. Mere observation was not enough! Being witnesses of Jesus' power and life was insufficient to give them power over the darkness of this world. If that had been enough, then why did they yet continued to fear as Jesus was taken from their midst? Why did they still fear as they locked themselves in together when Jesus appeared in their midst after His resurrection? They needed something far more than what they had already received of Christ and their new found faith in Him. This is the reason that Jesus said to that He had many more things to tell them but they were not yet able to hear them. The best truth, the deepest most impactful truth could not be heard until they had received the very mind of Christ given through the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

    Jesus and the Father knew this and had planned from before the foundations of the world to provide for man what man needed most. In order to give them this great power from heaven, they first needed to be cleansed from sin in their hearts. They needed to be restored to right fellowship with the Father. For the Father knew that even this would not be enough to carry His restored children to the place He Himself was preparing for them. They needed Holy Spirit POWER!

    The scriptures show that Jesus told them to go to Jerusalem, that possession of perfect peace and wait till they received power from on high. None of them knew what this meant but after all the time they had spent with Jesus, before His death and even after His resurrection, they knew to obey Him. So it was that as they had gathered together in that upper room in Jerusalem as Jesus had instructed them, that power of God, that very presence of the most holy, came down into that room and filled each and every one of them as evidenced by tongues of fire upon their heads.

    The power that was unleashed in their hearts turned these fearful lambs into bold lions! It turned their fearful hearts into fearlessness. What filled them in that moment was the very heart of God into their own hearts. It was then that God came down and made His tabernacle with man and the heart of man became the HOLY OF HOLIES. It was man who became that ark of God with His angels and cherubim watching over and guarding the very presence of a Holy God. God had fulfilled what He promised! He has replaced our heart of stone with a heart of flesh. He has taken this new heart and began to write His law on the tablets of our heart. No longer would any man need to tell his brother or his neighbor to know the Lord because they all knew the Lord, from the least of them to the greatest.

    Brethren, this sacrifice of Jesus and subsequent outpouring of the Holy Spirit IS that New Covenant God promised through the prophets of old. This was not something that was to be a one time event but an ongoing event for every generation that would believe on the Son of God. Jesus came to bring us that abundant life which at first set us free from sin and death but also, through the power of God's outpouring of His Holy Spirit, He gave us His power and His ability to be sons of the most high God!

    The glory man had before the fall of Adam and Eve in the garden is not only restored but enhanced! He has given to us that same resurrection power we saw on display in Jesus' life while He walked in this earth! He has given to us His authority to cast out devils, to heal the sick, to make the lame walk, to open the blind eyes, to raise the dead AND to preach the gospel. His commission to the church was not ONLY to preach the gospel and make disciples but during the course of these things to heal, deliver, and raise the dead just as He did!

    Jesus Himself gave His followers the same authority He Himself had while they were still with him even before the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. So even if these things were given to his disciples before, how much more are these things to be accomplished after they received God's Holy Spirit baptism of fire!? What was demonstrated in Jesus' life while on earth and given to His followers then are those same things He has demonstrated for all who should believe afar off as He expressed in His high priestly prayer of John 17:
    John 17:18-24 (NKJV)
    As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. 19 And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth.
    Jesus Prays for All Believers
    20 “ I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; 21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. 22 And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one:23 I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.
    24 “ Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.
    Today, we are the very ones which Jesus spoke of in His prayer to the Father. It was the Father's plan to restore all mankind back to right relationship with Him and in order to accomplish this, man needed something they no longer possessed. Man needed the very power of heaven, God's own power, to be able to overcome the power of that fallen angel we know as Satan. For ordinary man without God's supernatural power, did not possess the power to resist his deceptions and lies. Only those who have been filled with God's own power have the power needed to defeat this enemy of our souls.

    It was to this end that Jesus spoke to His disciples and gave them the power and authority to bind on earth and to loose on earth. This binding power is to bind that which opposes God's purposes and plan here on earth and in the spiritual realm (heaven). This loosing power was given in order to release the very power of the kingdom of God on earth as it is in heaven. For we do not fight against flesh and blood but against the powers of spiritual wickedness in this world which has been under the rule of that fallen one, Satan.

    This awesome power can only be wielded by those who have been filled with that Holy Spirit baptism for it is only given to those who have yielded their whole lives, mind body and soul, to the One who created them and redeemed them from the earth. For God will not dwell in a man who refuses to yield over their entire life to Him. The whole of creation groans and moans for the revelation of the sons of God. These are the sons of God, ONLY those who are being led by God's own Spirit. And those who are being led by God's Spirit will have allowed for and received of His awesome resurrection power and are actively walking in this power, setting the captives free, healing and delivering the sick and the captives, raising the dead, both figuratively and literally and preaching the gospel to the poor, making disciples everywhere they go. These are those who have cast off all the vestiges of this world and are no longer part of this world and their very lives testify to this truth. These are the ones God's word proclaims who will rebuild the waste places and raise up the former desolations...
    Isaiah 58:6-14 (NKJV)
    “ Is this not the fast that I have chosen:
    To loose the bonds of wickedness,
    To undo the heavy burdens,
    To let the oppressed go free,
    And that you break every yoke?
    7 Is it not to share your bread with the hungry,
    And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out;
    When you see the naked, that you cover him,
    And not hide yourself from your own flesh?
    8 Then your light shall break forth like the morning,
    Your healing shall spring forth speedily,
    And your righteousness shall go before you;
    The glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.
    9 Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer;
    You shall cry, and He will say, “Here I am. ’
    ‘If you take away the yoke from your midst,
    The pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness,
    10 If you extend your soul to the hungry
    And satisfy the afflicted soul,
    Then your light shall dawn in the darkness,
    And your darkness shall be as the noonday.
    11 The Lord will guide you continually,
    And satisfy your soul in drought,
    And strengthen your bones;
    You shall be like a watered garden,
    And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.
    12 Those from among you
    Shall build the old waste places;
    You shall raise up the foundations of many generations;
    And you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach,
    The Restorer of Streets to Dwell In.
    20130409-121530.jpg13 “If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath,
    From doing your pleasure on My holy day,
    And call the Sabbath a delight,
    The holy day of the Lord honorable,
    And shall honor Him, not doing your own ways,
    Nor finding your own pleasure,
    Nor speaking your own words,
    14 Then you shall delight yourself in the Lord;
    And I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth,
    And feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father.
    The mouth of the Lord has spoken.”
    Indeed, these of God's people that do these things are the very ones who will usher in God's everlasting kingdom with Jesus as the King of kings and the Lord of Lords. These have been given a share of Jesus' power and authority to establish and build up the kingdom of God on Earth as it is in Heaven! It is these who have the power to bind up and destroy the works of the evil one and to loose the blessings of heaven upon the faithful, all in the Name that is above all names, Jesus Christ, God's only begotten Son!
