    Let the Prophets Speak

    Let The Prophets Speak

    Deuteronomy 19:15 (NKJV)
    The Law Concerning Witnesses
15 “One witness shall not rise against a man concerning any iniquity or any sin that he commits; by the mouth of two or three witnesses the matter shall be established.
Why is this so? Why two or three? As it was in the Old Testament, it is from the mouths of two or three witnesses that the facts of a case is established. One is insufficient for one may not have the facts straight but with a second, unrelated witness, the facts of the first witness can be verified. A third unrelated witness helps to establish a more complete picture of the events leading to the accusations.
    Deuteronomy 17:6 (NKJV)
Whoever is deserving of death shall be put to death on the testimony of two or three witnesses; he shall not be put to death on the testimony of one witness.

    Matthew 18:16 (NKJV)
But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that ‘by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. ’
What is also very important when listening, is to listen to two or three so the witness can be fully established. Just as in the story in one gospel (Luke 18:35) a certain blind man, in another gospel (Matthew 9:27) TWO blind men and a third gospel (Mark 10:46) of the blind man named Bartimaeus, each gospel writer shares their views of this encounter on the road out of Jericho with each contributing something more of the overall story. With one, we have a truth being introduced, with a second, more of the story is revealed and with the third, a complete picture emerges.

In the account in Matthew, it was the multitude who warned the two blind men to be quiet. In the Luke account this testimony was further clarified in that it was those who went BEFORE Jesus who warned the blind man to be quiet. In the third account in Mark, further clarification came as we learned the name of that blind man and that he cast aside his garment as he answered Jesus' call to come.

And so it is with the prophetic, let the prophetic message be fully established through the telling of two or three prophets.
    1 Corinthians 14:29-31 (NKJV)
Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge.
30 But if anything is revealed to another who sits by, let the first keep silent.
31 For you can all prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all may be encouraged.
In the first prophetic message, the truth is heard. In the second, it is confirmed with more details coming forth and still further, through the third prophetic message, even more details emerge giving a more complete picture of what God is saying and what God is requiring of the church. Ever since the gift ministries have been restored to the church, the ministry of the prophet has been one of mystery with few rising up to take their place. Much emphasis was given in hearing only the one where that prophet was received.

In this next move of God, we will begin to see not just one prophet rising up to take their place but numerous other prophets, all with a testimony of what God is saying. If they are all received and allowed to share their testimony in the example laid down for us in 1 Cor. 14, then the church will be better informed for a more complete picture or testimony will be heard with more of the facts being established. God will finally have what He has desired all along. A more complete understanding of His will and His desire from the mouths of two or three witnesses of His friends, the prophets as in plurality. In this, His true order can be established. In this manner, the body of Christ is even further established in the knowledge of the truth and are edified, strengthened and encouraged.

When God began to establish His Name in the earth, this too was through the mouths of three witnesses. He chose to reveal Himself in the lives of three notable men, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. He then became known as the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob. I believe this is the pattern for when God made man in His image after His likeness, man became a triune being as in body, soul and spirit following after the Godhead of Father, the Word and Holy Spirit.

It is time for the lone prophets to make room for the message of other prophets in their midst. The current day prophets must not allow themselves to feel this is not necessary or they will find themselves standing in the way of what God has already clearly stated in His word. This is not a competition between prophets but a furthering of that testimony so God's message can be heard in its fulness.

This is but only one of the many changes that will come as God pours out of His Spirit upon all flesh as at the first. Will we accept these changes with gladness of heart or will we stand fast in what we know and resist what God wishes to bring. Remember, in every move of God historically, those of the old guard, resisted steadfastly the changes God was bringing in their midst. Their desire was to walk only in what they already knew but throughout history, God has shown to promote change in the lives of His people.

He has not changed but we MUST change as more of His truth and His ways are revealed to us. For if we are not willing to change or recognize and accept what He is doing, then we will find ourselves, like so many in the past, opposing God and persecuting our brethren. In this, we will find that it is we who God will oppose and it is we of whom God will reject for we will have rejected Him.

Brethren, just as during the course of our walk we have embraced change as we grew from glory to glory, let us not resist Him as He brings further changes in our midst. It has been His purpose from the beginning to restore to us all things pertaining to His Kingdom. So let us embrace with all readiness of mind and heart all that He will bring. This is only one of the many restored truths He will be introducing to our lives along with numerous other changes in our order of worship and our personal relations as He opens wider our hearts and our understanding to the manifold grace and power of His Word.
