    VERSE FOR THE DAY - Ps. 32:8-11

    Psalms 32:8-11 NKJV
    8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
    9 Do not be like the horse or like the mule,
    Which have no understanding,
    Which must be harnessed with bit and bridle,
    Else they will not come near you.
    10 Many sorrows shall be to the wicked;
    But he who trusts in the Lord, mercy shall surround him.
    11 Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, you righteous;
    And shout for joy, all you upright in heart!
    I remember the first time I came across this verse. I was reading the KJV of the bible with no cross-references or Strong’s dictionary. I asked the Lord what does it mean when You say You will guide me with Your eye? His answer was all so simple, “THE EYE LOOKS ONLY WHERE THE HEART’S DESIRE IS.”

    I understood this to mean that He will bring me to the place where I will be guided by His heart. To draw near to Him and His drawing nearer to me could mean only one thing. The closer I draw near to Him, the closer I am to understanding His heart. For it is His delight to reveal His heart to us all. Now, after many years of walking in this way, I seldom have to hear a “word” to know what He wants me to do. He shows me an image and because I know His heart, the understanding comes instantly. It is the most effective means of communication ever devised!

    No lengthly explanations required. No misunderstanding with the usual culprits of my will versus His will. Since I have surrendered my will to do His will, it has long been my heart’s desire to always do those things that will please Him. Once fully surrendered, all the misunderstandings that occurred before are gone. There is no longer that issue of Him having to get past my expectations or my own goals in life. The more I walked in the Spirit, the more I become just like Him. The more I hunger and thirst for Him, the closer I draw to Him and the more I am able to sense the desires of His heart.

    It is not His desire to have to treat us like a horse that needs to be broken before we will obey Him. No more will we be like the stubborn mule who must be beaten into submission. No more will He be forced to put a bit and bridle on us because we are no longer of those who constantly want to go our own way. God has ALWAYS wanted to work with us in a way that benefits us the most, heart to heart.

    Will you be like the horse or the mule and a bit and bridle is the only way He can get His will across to you? Or will you draw nearer and nearer to Him, close enough to feel the desire of His heart communicating His will and purpose to your heart? He promises to guide us with His eye and He is more than able to do this. I know! He has been guiding me with His eye for more than 30 years now.

    Can you hear the desire of His heart for you? Will you let His heart’s desire become your heart’s desire?
