VERSE OF THE DAY - Matthew 24:3-14

Matthew 24:3-14 (NKJV)The Signs of the Times and the End of the Age3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “ Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”  4 And Jesus answered and said to them:“ Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.9 “ Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name's sake. 10 And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. 11 Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. 12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.
"...because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold..."

We are in that time where the love of many have grown cold. We have become so desensitized through violence and language in the movies and the God dishonoring sit-coms and the seemingly endless struggle for truth and the everyday accounts of attacks on human decency. Instead of a culture of life, we are now living in a culture of death. Violence and death are glorified on the most popular TV programs and even in realistic games on our gaming consoles. Now, there is a vicious "game called KNOCK OUT that is being perpetrated in the streets of this country where groups of idle youth look for an easy target and see which one can knock out that hapless victim with a single punch to the head. They are indiscriminate as to who their victims are from the very young to the elderly and many even use their smartphones to video their atrocities and call it FUN!

All these things reveal the times of the end prophesied. The signs are plenteous. The evidence is overwhelming.

Isn't it time to make a choice? Do we just turn our heads and avert eyes? Do we ignore what is very apparent to all and hope it will all just go away? Or will we become broken and cry out our hearts and intercede for ourselves and those around us?

The time for brokenness is upon us. Will we bow before The Lord and repent? Or will we continue our pursuit of pleasure? We gather in groups at church and do our "duty to God"? Is this the reason Jesus died the most horrible death to deliver us from sin? Will his suffering count for nothing? Do we live our lives as if that all we needed was our heavenly ticket punched and we no longer need to continue to pursue righteousness and holiness?

This generation has become a self satisfied generation viewing ourselves as in need of nothing and no longer moved by the sufferings of others. We think to ourselves, oh that is happening in the other side of the world...what can I do? Those that are starving to death in another part of the world, they are out of my daily sight and besides, I have bills to pay, a family to raise, vacations to plan, entertainment to occupy my time. I can't allow myself to be involved. It is too depressing! Someone else can do something because I just don't have the time. It's not that I don't care, it's just that I live a very busy life. There just isn't enough time in the day.

And so we go on, everyday, without a single thought to the plight of those that are out of sight and out of mind. Can't we spend even just a few minutes asking God for His mercies and His deliverance for these our brethren? Christianity across the world is under attack. The church is being persecuted at a level never before seen but because we don't see it here, we do nothing!

Oh what a seed we are sowing for ourselves today! I tell you, that because of our own indifference, because of our own inaction, because of the coldness of our hearts, there is being laid up for us the kind of fruit no one will want to harvest. For we are laying for ourselves violence and strife because we have become a stiff necked people, an uncaring people, a people filled and satisfied and we don't know how wretched and miserable and naked we truly are.

The signs are glaring and staring us in the face and still we choose to bury our heads in the sand and try to just wish them away!

For those that can hear, now is the time to cry and not a time for laughter. Now is the time for mourning and not a time for rejoicing. Now is the time for brokenness for the lost souls who sit in darkness. Now is the time for intercession. If we will just open our hearts to our Lord and Savior, He will provide for us all that we need and then we can come boldly to His thrown and bring our petitions to Him. The time for action is NOW!

    1. This certainly speaks of our time. Your call to prayer and repentance in this is much needed. You are right the signs and evidence is all around us. Many of those I was acquainted with in the Lord have been caught in it's trap. Many are oppressing on another even those closest to them.
