    Where Is The Passion?

John 16:7-15 NKJV Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.
“ I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.
Jesus knew what the plans of the Father were because He also was in those plans. He knew we needed something far more than what we had. As fallen mankind, we did not have the power to resist the evil one since we were already under his power and influence. No man has the power to free himself from selfish thoughts. What mankind needed was a way to have the thoughts of his heart completely changed. In order to do this, righteousness needed to be established but not a righteousness that mankind would work on his own but a righteousness that could only be “given” to him from God. This required that the payment for sin be satisfied and only the spilling of blood, the judgment inferred upon a man, so that justice could be satisfied. God set that standard and gave a foreshadowing of it in several places throughout the Old Testament. One of those was while the children of Israel were in the wilderness and snakes were unleashed to punish those who rebelled against the Lord. A staff was made with the symbol of a snake and all who would “look upon” that symbol would be healed and delivered.

Jesus became that symbol that all who “look upon Him in faith” would be healed and delivered from their bondage to sin and with this, become born again of the Spirit of God. Now, the next stage of this plan could be implemented. Throughout Jesus’ ministry with His disciples, they witnessed the works of Jesus, heard the preaching and teaching of Jesus but all without being able to fully grasp the heart by which Jesus spoke and revealed the Father. There was much more that Jesus wanted to tell and show them but they simply were not capable of bearing all the truth Jesus wanted to give. Something was needed. Something powerful. Something never before seen or experienced by mortal man. Jesus had to die to release the Holy Spirit of His Father into the hearts of those who believed in Him but those hearts needed to be prepared.

The Holy of Holies could only be entered according to strict instructions provided by God. The high priest was required to follow rigorous rituals of cleansing and being made holy before he could enter into the presence of the Lord in the Holy of Holies. Failure to do this would cost him his life.

Now God was intent on entering a NEW SANCTUARY, the heart of mankind but in order to do this, that heart and the vessel it is contained within, must be clean and made holy. This is why Jesus instructed His, now clean, disciples to wait in Jerusalem and told them to prepare and tarry. This meant they were to prepare their hearts and ensure their hearts were clean and holy according to those standards Jesus taught them while He was with them. What was about to happen, although prophesied, no one truly knew or understood. What did Joel mean in his prophecy? What are tongues? All of this was a mystery never before seen in all of the history of Israel. What exactly was God about to do. No eye has seen nor ear heard what the Spirit of God was about to do.

All those three and a half years that Jesus spoke in the hearing of His disciples, at no time could He give to them His own heart so that they could truly know and truly understand what He saw and what He heard of His Father. The force or tenor of His words could not be fully appreciated because the words fell on darkened hearts and ears that were dull. Once the Holy Spirit was released and came to baptize these disciples, the very heart of Jesus was poured through every fiber of each one’s being. They were bathed in a light that could only be described as pure white liquid love that permeated every fiber of their being.

More than being just washed on the outside, this experience washed them thoroughly on the inside as well and in this experience, a revelation of who the Lord is and the depth of His love soaked them through and through. Every thought was instantly awash in this great and overpowering revelation of both the power and intensity of God’s love. No wonder they all came out laughing as drunk men. Suddenly, the life they once knew only through fear became a new life that no fear could exist but only the purity of God’s love and with this, a completely new view of why they existed and what their purpose is, to be those witnesses of God’s love to the world, just as Jesus was to them when He revealed the Father.

A newfound PASSION was theirs. Not something they needed to “work up” but something that flowed out of them and their hearts like a mighty river that nothing could resist. Nothing could stand against this passion, for the first time in their lives, they KNEW what that passion was that drove Jesus and empowered Him to do all that He did, even to the sufferings of the cross. A passion that knew no bounds! Those words that Jesus spoke about the nature of the Holy Spirit’s purpose, to convict the world of sin, of righteousness (the kind that only come through faith and obedience to the Holy Spirit), and of judgment as the god of this world, that deceiver of old is finally judged and no more can he touch those who were once under his power and now have become free and even more than this freedom, they have been empowered to defeat him.

With this new passion, a power beyond the experience of mankind has been released so that ordinary men could do the very same kinds of miracles as they witnessed of Jesus. God Himself has chosen to work the works of Jesus through all who believed in Him. This changed everything! The plan was crystal clear now to these once fearful men. Boldness rose within them that literally turned “mice into men”. No longer did fear have its hold on them. No longer would they fear death or anything that man could do to their bodies. A passionate love now was the engine that drove them to do works beyond that which Jesus could do in only 3 1/2 years. They would have far more time to show forth the glory of God and to spread the good news of this incredible salvation given through Jesus Christ.

These men and women, so incredibly changed and passionately in love with God with a new strength and a new purpose began to change the world around them, not only with the message of the gospel through words but with a power that exceeded all words as they too were transformed into that very likeness of their Savior. If you spoke with any one of these men and women, the only thing you would hear would be words from the Father’s heart and no more words of fear or anxiety or worry or of this life and what this life contains. All this disappeared in a moment of glorious liberty poured out and through each of them as they were enveloped in the manifestation of God’s incredible love and presence.

Today, where are these men and women who are so passionately in love with the Lord and Savior that the only thing coming out of their mouths are words revealing the heart of their Father? Nothing else matters as their focus is not on the things of this world or even the concerns that others are concerned with. Their focus is on heaven and seeking how God will use them to bring heaven down to earth and use them to do it.

It is this passion that I fail to see in many churches. Every church has THEIR order of things that THEY want to accomplish. They want God to visit them but only in that short time allotted because of all the constraints they’ve put upon themselves. They say, “God, I only have so much time and if You are going to accomplish something significant, then YOU need to show up within that allotted time. Got that God? And remember, I am doing this all for Your glory. Agreed? Amen!”

How foolish we have become that we think we can “manipulate” God into OUR schedule according to OUR convenience instead of us humbling ourselves before Him and letting Him set His schedule according to what He wants to do and realizing that His ways are FAR higher that our ways and His wisdom far higher than our wisdom. No wonder the churches in this country are not seeing the “evidence” of God’s power and anointing of those who are completely sold out to doing the will of the Father and not their own will.

The Bride, that Jesus is coming for has made herself ready, not by choosing their own ornaments, nor their own clothing or their own perfumes but this Bride has chosen, like Esther, to allow the servant of the King, the Holy Spirit, who lives in the kingdom and palace of the King, to make His choices FOR the Bride. This Bride that Jesus is coming for are ONLY those who have “become” sons of God because they allowed the Holy Spirit to lead them everyday, every moment because they were passionately in love with their Savior and wanted nothing except whatever it was He wants for them.

Are you ready for a PARADIGM change? Then GO to Jerusalem (possession of perfect peace) and prepare your hearts and wait until YOU receive His empowerment from a Baptism of the Holy Spirit that God is preparing to pour out afresh upon those who are ready. A NEW PASSION for God and His works are about to come but only upon those who are seeking Him daily and preparing their hearts to make room for Him to change their lives and turn their current world upside down!
