VISION: A Wake Up Call to the Church

It was a beautiful summer day with high fluffy clouds drifting slowly across the sky in 1976. A great day for a walk and I decided to go early to church. Since this was only about a 15 minute walk, I took my time and spent my moments in spiritual meditation. Almost half way there, I noticed a circle of light surrounding my steps. It felt so comfortable and peaceful.

When I asked the Lord what this was, He said it was His perfect will for me to walk in. I said I never want to leave this circle of light. I turned from the direction I was going towards the church building and after about 50 feet or so, I felt cold and then saw the circle of light was no longer at my steps. Immediately, I turned around and headed back to the street I was on previously.

Repenting for having stepped outside His light, I vowed never to walk outside His circle of light again no matter how far or where He should lead me. Just as quickly, His circle of light illuminated my path again. Just then, I could see a great white throne in the sky in the clouds and there was One sitting on that throne. He was wrapping up a scroll which He then threw towards me. I saw it as it came into me. At that moment I lost all awareness of everything around me and remained unaware of my surroundings for an unknown number of blocks.

At some point, I began to see giant hailstones falling from a clear blue sky, crashing loudly on houses, businesses, cars and people. I could hear the cries of those being struck. Startled at this, I 'woke' from this vision to see if this were really happening. Relieved that it wasn't, I was able, somehow, to re-enter the vision. This time as I saw the giant hailstones fall from the sky, I saw words appear over each thing that was destroyed. On one I saw 'hate', another 'lust', another 'greed', etc. All around me these 'works of the flesh' were being judged.

Then, just as suddenly, the scene changed. I was able to see God's children going about their daily lives. Busy busy busy! Everyone was so busy. Then the Lord spoke and said, "My people have no time for Me! They are too busy!" I could feel the anguish! As He said those words, I felt them. Such a mixture of sadness and longing. Such a sense of love and patience, all rolled into one overwhelming experience. Then He said, "Who will go and warn my people from Me?" I said, "I will go."

    End of vision.

After the vision, I wondered as to what does all this mean and He showed me that the hailstones represent judgement upon all flesh. He was going to judge the church first for they made no time for Him but preferred to walk in their own ways. But He still has mercy for them as He is allowing them a time to repent and return to Him IF they will turn away from their many distractions.
