Christians to "Bear Arms" or Not...

There is much discussion about whether Christians are to bear arms especially when considering the great "trouble" that is heading our way. I've challenged every Christian about whether they are to use weapons against anyone that may seek to harm them or their families and most seem to think that it is their responsibility to protect themselves, their property and their families.

Some have even quoted various portions of scripture to justify their use of violence but ALL of those who have defended the use of violence have missed these all important verses I am about to share. All of the nation of Israel were counted to determine the number of eligible men to fight as they entered into the promised land but notice which tribe was NOT COUNTED. None of their men were required to bear arms or enter into battle for the promised land.
45 So all those listed of the people of Israel, by their fathers 'houses, from twenty years old and upward, every man able to go to war in Israel— 46 all those listed were 603,550.
47 But the Levites were not listed along with them by their ancestral tribe. 48 For the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 49 “ONLY THE TRIBE OF LEVI YOU SHALL NOT LIST, AND YOU SHALL NOT TAKE A CENSUS OF THEM AMONG THE PEOPLE OF ISRAEL. 50 But appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of the testimony, and over all its furnishings, and over all that belongs to it. They are to carry the tabernacle and all its furnishings, and they shall take care of it and shall camp around the tabernacle
    (Numbers 1:45-50)
Once you are counted as "priests" of the Most High God, you are no longer available to engage in any kind of violence, even for the defense of your nation. Remember when Jesus strongly rebuked James and John, the sons of thunder, because they wanted to call down fire from heaven? Jesus told them, "You do not know what spirit you are of!" Jesus then explained that He did not come to destroy the lives of men but came to save them.

This is that all important truth that is easily forgotten by many because they still rely upon the thoughts of the old man and the way of this world. We are all taught to fight to protect ourselves, our property and our families and that the law of the land agrees with this. HOWEVER, when it comes to obeying the law of the land or obeying the Spirit of God and His Word, which do you suppose GOD will side with?

Christians and gunsThe teachings of the scriptures are abundantly sided with TRUSTING in the LORD OUR GOD in the midst of many overwhelming situations. Each example in the Old Testament show that when Israel put their trust in God ABOVE their own abilities, God ALWAYS came through for them.

I know that there will be those who will look at this reminder and disagree and bring many different scriptures to justify their attitudes but I say to each one now, CHECK YOUR ATTITUDE with the Lord! Will HE justify you or will He side with His own word instead? You may seek to find scriptures to justify the use of violence but just as Jesus rebuked His 2 disciples AGAINST the use of force, so will He rebuke YOU as well.

We are called to be kings and priests to our God and as priests, we are not to engage in violence for ANY REASON. God is our defense and if we lay down our lives instead of trying to save our lives, we shall be awarded the crown of life BUT if we try to save our lives, Jesus said it Himself, YOU SHALL LOSE YOUR LIFE.

Will you be able to TRUST the Lord with your life, your property and your family's lives? The days of trouble coming will put that to the test. Will you hold to your faith in God or will you take matters into your own hands? Make the choice now and put your trust in God. Like the 3 Hebrew young men, whether God would deliver them or not, they will refuse to bow down to the threats.

So, when trouble comes, to whom will you be found "bowing down to"? Fear or Faith?
