    Deuteronomy 9:4-6 (NKJV)
“Do not think in your heart, after the Lord your God has cast them out before you, saying, ‘Because of my righteousness the Lord has brought me in to possess this land’; but it is because of the wickedness of these nations that the Lord is driving them out from before you. 5 It is not because of your righteousness or the uprightness of your heart that you go in to possess their land, but because of the wickedness of these nations that the Lord your God drives them out from before you, and that He may fulfill the word which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. 6 Therefore understand that the Lord your God is not giving you this good land to possess because of your righteousness, for you are a stiffnecked people.
This is the word of the Lord to this generation. To all those who are full and satisfied and in need of nothing but you do not know that you are blind and naked and wretched and miserable and poor. Yours is a lukewarm generation and I am about to spew you out of My mouth unless you turn and repent. Humble yourselves before Me. Remember from where you have been redeemed. It is because of My great love and My great mercies and to fulfill My promise to My Son that I redeemed you but it is not because of your righteousness nor the uprightness of your heart because you are a stiff-necked and stubborn people. So remember from where I delivered you and humble yourselves and seek My face as if your very life depended on it. Repent, turn away from your sins. And then, only then, will I hear from heaven and forgive your sins and heal your land, says the Lord.
