    The Fear of the Lord

    The Fear of the Lord

By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honor, and life. (Proverbs 22:4)
    Humility: noun
a modest or low view of one's own importance; humbleness.

    Humble: adjective ( humbler , humblest )
    1) having or showing a modest or low estimate of one's own importance : he was humble about his stature as one of rock history's most influential guitarists.
    • (of an action or thought) offered with or affected by such an estimate of one's own importance : my humble apologies.
    2) of low social, administrative, or political rank : she came from a humble, unprivileged background.
    • (of a thing) of modest pretensions or dimensions : he built the business empire from humble beginnings

One of many obscure verses and yet one of the most powerful. In this verse is found the key to all the secrets of the Word of God. Truth worth living is often found in the most obscure places. Its value is usually overlooked or passed over because it usually does not fit in our grandiose schemes to pad our view of ourselves and what we want to accomplish in this life. Jesus described the kingdom of heaven as a hidden treasure worth the sacrifice of all. His word has many hidden treasures, ready to be found to those who truly seek truth in their inward parts.

This searching does not come without a price. One must turn away from their own ways and seek His way. This is the definition of an Overcomer: to defeat, conquer, trounce, thrash, rout, vanquish, overwhelm, overpower, get the better of, triumph over, prevail over, etc. It is not through our might or our strength but through the power of the Spirit of the Lord that this battle is won. We cannot find the victory while employing our strength, our wisdom, our might.

The battle is won and we become overcomers when we learn that only through our weakness will we be able to see His invincible might. When I am weak, He is strong for His strength is perfected through my weaknesses. It is when we get out of the way and yield all control to Him that we will finally find that peace and that rest He promised us. If we continue to fight our own battles, pursue our own paths, trust our own intellects and trust in ‘chariots’, then how can we expect to see the power of His deliverance?

We have rejected, through our actions, the redemptive power of the Lord. Only until we come to see and accept the true nature of our condition, namely, we are weak and cannot see afar off. That it is not in man to direct his own way. The heart is deceitful above all things. We really are a people filled with pride and self-sufficiency. Until we see our weakness and need for His wisdom, strength, power and direction. Until we give up the reigns to our lives and yield all control to Him, we will not obtain the riches, honor and life afforded us through the promise of this scriptural passage.

The voice of the Lord God brings with it the Fear of the Lord as the hidden places of the heart are exposed to the light of His Truth, exposing the motives of the heart.
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of Him with whom we have to do. (Hebrews 4:12-13)
Understand that when the Fear of the Lord is released upon the heart of man, who then will be able to stand in opposition. Remember, in the last day, even Satan and all the fallen angels will bow the knee and acknowledge that Jesus is Lord of All. Only for them, there remains no more hope of redemption. So let us invite the Fear of the Lord into our midst before that great and terrible day. While breath is still within us, let us humble ourselves and repent. Let us turn away from our ways. Let us seek Him with all our hearts. Let us cry out to Him that we may draw near to Him and ask He promised, He will draw near to us.

If your heart is divided and your future uncertain, turn away from the destructive path. Stop right where you are and cry out for His mercy. He will hear you! He will turn to you and restore your heart, mind and soul. He will gather you into His kingdom and bring to you a mighty peace that surpasses your understanding and your expectations.
