    Two Visitors

Had two visitors stop by my house yesterday trying to fulfill their quota. Yes, they were with the Jehovah Witnesses. I so enjoy speaking to them. My first question to them both was, "Do you speak with the Lord?" Immediately the first one said they have the bible. I said, "No, no, no. Do YOU speak with God and do YOU hear His voice?" Their answer...NO! Then how can you be sons if you do not have a relationship with Him. We have the bible was their only answer. Yes, but the bible is His letter to us. Don't you want to get to know Him better?

I can have a letter from a girl friend but if that is the extent of our relationship, then how can I really know her. I must commune with her and how hard it is to commune when you cannot hear their answers immediately or hear the tone of their voice or see the look in their eyes. I have a daily relationship with Jesus and I see and hear His voice when He speaks to me. How can you try to tell me of a God you do not know? They stood there both with blank looks in their eyes.

The one thing I wished to convey was something intangible. Something they could not get out of just reading a book. I wanted to demonstrate a real, living relationship that brings with it joy and peace and a confidence that cannot be had by just reading dry letters. I explained that this was the reason God sent Holy Spirit, to put within the heart of man His own heart so that we all could see and understand His love because we experience His heart within our own.

Both continued on their way but I pray that God will use this brief encounter to stir up questions and perhaps a hunger for something more than what they had till now. I encourage everyone, when you see these lost souls come to your door, do not hide or do not try to rush them along but give them an opportunity to see the life of Christ in you by the joy and unceasing hope that is in your heart. Show them that a living relationship CAN be had beyond the printed word. Perhaps, the one you speak with may be a seeker yet and has not been completely deceived.

This is very important what I am about to tell you. When I was baptized in God's Spirit and received the gift of other tongues, I was ao excited that I couldn't wait to tell my girlfriend, at that time, Frances of this wonderful experience. When I did, she said something about doctrines of devils and seducing spirits and walked away from me.

Immediately I cried out to the Lord asking Him if she even loved Him for if she did not, I would not pursue her but leave her right now. But if she did love You, then show me. Instantly He opened my eyes and showed me that to Him her heart was pure but she had ONLY been deceived. This floored me! He did not place a great concern on her deception because He saw something of greater value, her heart was pure before Him. It literally took me years to understand this truth but I accepted her immediately when He answered me.

Now I understand even better HOW God sees a heart and it is nothing like we do. Only He can see a heart in this manner but He is willing to show us if we ask as He did with me. As long as a heart loves the Lord their God, then whatever way they have been deceived can be corrected and changed. As long as He has that connection of faith, doctrine can be changed to line up with His revealed word. So do not reject someone because their doctrine does not line up with yours. Ask God to see a glimpse at what He sees. It may surprise you and if HE says their heart is pure before Him, BELIEVE Him...He is ALWAYS right! Let the love of God so shine from your own heart that others may see these good works and glorify your Father in Heaven.
